Privacy Policy for Graphtory
Overview
Graphtory is a local-first browser extension for browsing recall and productivity insights. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. Graphtory is built on a local-first design philosophy: your data never leaves your device.
Data Collection and Processing
What We Process:
- Browsing Excerpts & Text: We temporarily parse and structure text paragraphs (>80 characters) from pages you visit during browsing sessions to generate local embeddings.
- Browsing Metadata: We record page URLs, titles, timestamps, dwell times, scroll depths, and tab group associations to build your productivity timeline.
- Vector and Relational Storage: All parsed text, embeddings, metadata, and generated summaries are stored locally on your machine in IndexedDB storage partitions (
GraphtoryDatabase and GraphtoryVectorDatabaseV2).
What We DON'T Collect:
- We do not collect or transmit any personal identifying information (name, email, address, etc.) to any server.
- We do not capture screenshots of your desktop or browser window.
- We do not record passwords, credentials, location coordinates, or financial details.
- No telemetry, activity logs, or database records are ever uploaded to any cloud infrastructure or external server.
How We Use Your Data
- Local Vector Embeddings: Text excerpts are vectorized locally using ONNX runtime WebGPU-accelerated models.
- Local LLM Classification: Site productivity ratings are determined locally using an on-device WebGPU language model or static rule matches.
- Local Retrieval: When you query your search history (Q&A), similarities are computed entirely within your browser's sandboxed environment.
Data Sharing and Security
- Zero Third-Party APIs: Unlike cloud-dependent AI extensions, Graphtory runs 100% offline. No data is shared with Google, Vercel, or any external third-party AI processing API.
- No Data Sales: Your data resides solely in your browser's private database. We do not sell, trade, or transfer your browsing data.
- Local Clearing: You can wipe all recorded captures, vectors, sessions, and digests at any time directly through the Settings UI panel.
Your Rights and Control
- You can toggle historical indexing on or off instantly.
- You can modify or delete custom regex classification rules at any time.
- All data is permanently purged from your machine when you uninstall the extension.
Technical Details
Remote Code Usage: Graphtory does not fetch or execute remote code or call external APIs for text processing or classification. All ONNX runtime operations and Phi-3 LLM classifications run locally inside the extension.
